Bob Dransite - Leader; Tenor Saxophone, Clarinet
Bob Dransite studied at the Eastman School of Music, where he recorded with the Eastman Symphonic Wind Ensemble. He has been a member of and soloist with the Dorsey Brothers Orchestra led by Clem DeRosa. He has appeared in concert with Phil Woods, Eddie Daniels, Bill Watrous, Scott Hamilton, Charlie Ventura, Randy Brecker, and has performed with Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington, Mel Torme, and Vic Damone, among many others. In 1996, Bob performed with the on-set orchestra for the movie “Sabrina”. He has led orchestras for Peter Duchin, Skitch Henderson, and Hank Lane. Bob teaches saxophone and clarinet at Hofstra University and Nassau Community College.
Anthony Cerabino - Drums
Anthony Cerabino was first recognized for his talents by performing
in the New York State All-State Jazz Ensemble in 1979 and further
recognition by performing in the world renowned One O'clock Jazz
Band at North Texas State University 1983. Upon graduation, Anthony
became an adjunct faculty member for three years at North Texas State
University. Anthony has performed and/or toured with many great acts and
artists including Bob Hope, Ben Vereen, Bo Diddley, Leslie Gore,
The Dallas Jazz Orchestra, and trumpet legend Maynard Ferguson.
Anthony toured the US with The Glenn Miller Orchestra, and performed with the Larry Elgart
and the Benny Goodman Tribute Bands. Anthony has also toured with Barnum and Bailey's
"Kaleidoscape", which is Ringlings Brothers' version of a modern Cirque.
Stephen Salerno - Guitar
Steve Salerno is an active performer of both Jazz and Classical music. He has performed in Europe, Asia, Puerto Rico, the United States and Canada. He has performed with many of today’s top musicians including Jaco Pastorius, Kenny Wheeler, John Abercrombie, Mark Dresser, Bennie Wallace, Tommy Campbell, Regina Carter, Tim Berne, Lonnie Plaxico and Adam Nussbaum. Among his latest recordings are Paul Smoker’s “Mirabile Dictu” (CIMP: 233) and Ray Anderson’s “Bone Meal” and Dave Lobenstein’s “Triple Play.” He is featured on the soundtrack recording for John Feldman’s film, Dead Funny starring Andrew Mc Carthy and Elizabeth Peña.
His classical group, The Constellation Trio (with Linda Wetherill, flute & Terry Keevil, oboe) is the honored recipient of the NYSCA Decentralization Grant (2003) and the New York Cultural Affairs Grant (2003). Composers Joel Thome and Robert Martin have written works for the Constellation Trio.
He is the Founding Director of the Jazz Program at Stony Brook University where he is completing his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in 20th Century Performance. Along with guitarist/producer Jay Graydon, he has recently been appointed as a member of the Musician’s Advisory Board for D’Addario Strings. He is the author of the Planet Waves “Chord Master” chord dictionary program (available in a hand-held LCD version, PDA version and soon to be completed book version). He teaches guitar at Adelphi University and teaches an online Guitar Tutorial course (Fall & Spring semesters) for the website, www.guitar.com.
Susan Turner - Vocals
Susan Turner is a classically trained vocalist, and has been singing professionally since childhood. Her singing talents have spanned the world of opera, pop, standards, jazz, big band and shows. Susan has performed on radio, television, and in many cabarets and clubs. Big band music has always been one of Susan’s greatest passions, and she had been the featured vocalist for many big bands.
Jerry Cardone - Vocals
Jerry Cardone performs as the star vocalist with the Al Miller Band.
Jerry's masterful performance of his tribute to Old Blue Eyes
has endeared him to a multitude of fans everywhere. His styling
and phraseology has received high acclaim for appearances
Madison Square Garden, Lincoln Center, the Waldorf Astoria,
the Plaza, and Tavern on the Green. He has produced and starred
in various television productions and radio programs. During the
summer months, the Al Miller Big Band featuring Jerry Cardone's
Tribute to Old Blue Eyes can be seen at park concerts throughout
New York State. During the year, Jerry and the band perform at
many public and private venues. Jerry's quest is to keep the beautiful
music of Old Blue Eyes alive. A marvelous treat awaits you as he
fills your heart with song.
Gary Meyer - Alto Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute
Gary received a B.S. in performance from Brooklyn College in 1979 and a M.M. from The Juilliard School in 1981. Gary has performed with the Santa Fe Opera orchestra from 1983-1985, The New Jersey and Milwaukee Symphonies, and the New York City Opera orchestra. In the summer of 1979 Gary toured the U.S. with Peter Frampton on alto and tenor sax. Gary has performed on broadway for 42nd Street, The Phantom of the Opera, La Cage Aux Folles, and Fosse. Gary has taught instrumental music in the Cold Spring Harbor School district since 1988.
Jeff Mitchell - Alto Saxophone
Jeff Mitchell earned his BA from Indiana University and his MA from Arizona State University. Besides being one of the busiest club date musicians in New York, he has performed with Frankie Valli, Ben Vereen, Rich Little, Michael Feinstein, Marilyn Michaels, Lorna Luft, Al Martino, the Shan-Gri-Las, Connie Francis, Bobby Rydell, Jerry Vale, Lucy Arnaz, and the Phoenix Symphony Pops, among many others. Jeff teaches saxophone, clarinet and flute at New York's prestigious Chaminade High School.
James Miceli - Alto Saxophone
James Miceli has performed with Freddie Hubbard, Milt Hinton, Sal Salvatore, Don Menza, Maynard Ferguson and Paquito D’Rivera. He has played in musical groups in varied styles including R&B, jazz, big bands, show bands and pop. James also has his own graphic design studio in Huntington NY, where he designs CD covers, websites and other music related items.
Steve Costenbader - Tenor Saxophone
Steve has played woodwinds, sax, clarinet and flute professionally for the past 30 years. He has performed with the Capris, Little Anthony, Paul Simon, Kenny Vance, Roy Haynes, Ron Aprea, Terrance Blanchard and Pete McCann, and many other artists and groups. He has performed at Radio City Music Hall, Nassau Coliseum, Westbury Music Fair and Atlantic City casinos. He is a house musician at Port Jefferson Theater Three, and can be heard performing throughout Long Island as a freelance musician in the classical, club date, jazz and theater fields. He is also a member of the seven piece jazz/blues band "The Whiskey Rebellion and the Skid Row Horns".
Steve Shaiman - Baritone Saxophone
Steve is a graduate of Oberlin College, Ohio, where he performed with every major ensemble in the school's world-renowned Conservatory of Music, including Jazz Ensembles, Symphonic Band, Orchestra,
Chamber Orchestra, and Choir. In addition to numerous jazz groups, Steve has performed with many
classical ensembles, including The North Shore Symphony, The North Shore Symphonic Band,
The Nassau Pops Symphonic Band and the International House Chamber Orchestra.
He has also appeared as guest conductor with the NYU Concert Band in numerous performances.
When not performing, he works as Sr. Vice President and Artist Manager for
Concert Artists Guild, a non-profit music management firm where he works
to develop the careers of emerging classical soloists and chamber ensembles. |

Ozzie Cardona - Trumpet
With over 20 years of professional experience, Ozzy Cardona has an extremely varied and eclectic resume. As an alumni of the famed New York All City Orchestra and All State 4 year scholarship program, Ozzy has branched out from an all classical background performing with the New York Philharmonic '80-'82 in Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, to touring with the Grammy nominated group DLG (Dark Latin Groove) in venues all over Europe and South America. He has performed, toured and recorded in different genres such as: Ska (The Toasters, The Skadanks), Latin (Victor Manuel, George Lamond, Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez, Yomo Toro, Sophy and Larry Harlow), Haitian Compas (NY All Stars, Bazooka, Zin, Topaz, Ska Sha, Tabóu Combo) and Jazz (Dave Valentin, Rod Raffell Orchestra).
As a freelance trumpet player, Ozzy has logged in over 100 recording sessions and has been featured in the movies "The Break" with Stephen Rea and "Laugh Track". As a studio musician he has many commercial jingles to his credit such as: Budweiser, Hunts, Playtex, Pathmark, Colgate-Palmolive, has several PSA (Public Service Announcements) and TV appearances (Guiding Light, Good Morning America).
Ozzy is currently working on a production with the multi-platinum Hip Hop artist "Fat Joe" that will be available later this year
Neal Rosen - Trumpet
Neal Rosen started playing trumpet at the age of 6, and has played professionally since the age of 15. He earned his BA from CUNY and his Masters in Music Education from Lehman College. Neal is one of New York’s finest lead and jazz trumpet players, and has played in many groups of many styles including R&B, jazz, latin, show and big bands.
Barry Schwalb - Trumpet
Barry is a very active freelance performer, teacher and musical contractor with extensive Big Band and musical theater experience. Co-founder, leader and lead trumpet for the Downtown Jazz Orchestra. Lead trumpet for many years with the Sonny Dallas Big Band. Barry currently is the assistant lead trumpet and jazz soloist for the Long Island Sound of Swing. He can regularly be heard and sometimes even seen at many of the regional theater venues including Five Towns College, Hofstra University, Nassau Community College and The Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts. Barry also performs as featured soloist and 1st trumpet with both the North Shore Pops Concert Band and the South Shore Brass Ensemble. He currently teaches trumpet at Five Towns College and directs the Hauppauge Middle School Jazz Ensemble.
George Berardinelli - Trumpet
George Berardinelli played with the big bands of Boyd Raeburn, Tony Pastor, Sonny Dunham, Tommy Tucker and many others. He subbed at Radio City Music Hall and played in the First Army band. After service he attended and received the BM and MM from the Manhattan School of Music. He played jazz concerts with Teddy Wilson and Cozy Coles and spent ten years in the latin field where he performed with Tito Puente, Tito Rodriguez, Xavier Cugat and Celia Cruz. He has been active in the club-date field both as a performer and a contractor. At present he is teaching at Molloy College and the BOCES Cultural Center.
Jim Dragovich - Trombone
Jim Dragovich received both his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Music from CW Post, where he presently serves as adjunct professor of music education teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Jim has also been a member of the music faculty of the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools for the past twenty two years, and the ensembles under his direction have received numerous prestigious performance awards. He has toured and conducted in Canada and throughout the east coast, and workd as clinician presenting workshops at universities and state conferences. Jim has worked with many artists including Stanley Drucker, Billy Ekstine, Julius LaRosa, Jerry Vale, The Four Aces, Dave Pietro, and The Four Freshman. He recently completed a post-graduate degree in wind conducting from Hofstra University.
Mike Fahn - Valve & Slide Trombone
Mike Fahn is one of the most pre-eminent jazz trombonists in New York and on the west coast. Mike has played and recorded with John Patitucci, Diana Krall, Terry Gibbs, Bob Cooper, Don Menza, Al Hirt, Dizzy Gillespie, Maynard Ferguson, Shorty Rogers, Conte Condoli, Chet Baker, Freddie Hubbard, Louis Bellson, Peter Erskine, Bill Watrous, Michael Brecker, Randy Brecker, Kenny Wheeler, Slide Hampton, Toshiko Akioshi, and many others. He has also worked with Jerry Lewis, Ben Vereen, Leslie Uggums, Tony Bennett, Harry Belafonte, Lena Horne, Spanish singer Rapheal, Gloria Gaynor, Gladys Knight, Johnny Colon, and Liza Minelli. Mike has toured Japan, Indonesia, Brazil, France, Columbia, and the United States with some of these wonderful performers Mike has recently finished his second CD titled "Close Your Eyes...and Listen" and can be heard at many of the New York jazz clubs. His wife, jazz bassist Mary Ann McSweeney, released her CD "Thoughts of You" on the Jazz Magnet label in February of 2001 on which Mike is a featured soloist. Recent projects for Mike Fahn include the release of Bill Mobley's new big band CD recording on Spacetime Records, a new live recording in January of 2002 of the Andrew Hill Big Band at Birdland in New York City for Palmetto Records, and bassist Mary Ann McSweeney's new CD "Swept Away" in 2002. In August of 2002, Mike performed with Trumpeter-Composer Kenny Wheeler and his big band at Birdland.
Bill Finnerty - Trombone
Bill Finnerty is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music. He has composed music for television commercials, and as an accomplished trombonist in many styles, has performed with numerous groups and individual artists. Bill works as a recording engineer in New York and Connecticut, and teaches recording and midi technology at a number of colleges and universities.
John Lieto - Trombone
John started playing Trombone in 5th grade.
During John's High School years, he performed
with the Symphonic Band and as a soloist
with the Jazz Band. John attributes his early
development in music to studying privately and
the experience of playing in groups outside of school
such as the Wagner College Jazz Band and the
Staten Island Community Jazz Band.
John was graduated from the Crane School of Music
at SUNY Potsdam. After graduating, John held several
teaching positions, levels K-12. During this tenure
John regularly performed with several local Jazz ensembles
and Long Island Wedding Bands. In the early
1990's,
John became interested in technology; John currently works in
both the business technolgy and music professions.
His musical development has been influenced
by artists from every musical discipline, including the
music of: Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Stravinsky, Ravel,
Copeland, J.J. Johnson, Steve Turre, Steve Davis,
Michael Brecker, Chicago, Yellowjackets, Jazz Crusaders,
Maynard Ferguson and Nick Lieto.
Jerry McDonald - Upright Bass
Jerry McDonald started playing electric bass while attending SUNY College at New Paltz. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Jerry continued to perform regularly at home on Long Island with several local R&B bands. Looking for a more creative outlet, Jerry became hooked on the sounds of Miles Davis, Cannonball Adderly and Jaco Pastaurius, and began an intensive study of jazz and upright bass. Jerry studied with notable bassists Bill McCrossen , John Ray and Rufus Reid, and soon carved a niche for himself on the New York scene, performing hundreds of gigs a year, with some of New York’s hottest bands. Jerry has also toured, including a recent tour in Russia with The Anastasia Renee’ Quartet. Mike Giordano - Piano
Mike Giordano received his BA in Music Education from CW Post College.
He also studied privately with John Knapp, pianist for jazz greats Charlie Parker,
John Coltrane, Dizzie Gillespie and Miles Davis.
Mike is one of the most sought after piano players in New York, and in addition to
his work with the Al Miller Band, Mike performs, arranges, and conducts
for the Ken James Orchestra. Equally proficient on piano, electric piano,
organ, accordian, and acoustic and electric guitar, Mike has performed internationally
(most notably Fontana di Trevi - Rome, Italy, and The Denmark Conservatory)
as well as throughout the United States. Mike performs weekly on Cablevision's "The Classic Rock Show" with guitar legend Frank Pal.
